Decorating With Chocolate, Wine, And Roses

In honor of Valentine's Day, here are some samplings from my decorating portfolio that are on the sweet side.

For chocolate lovers ...

If you love chocolate, surrounding yourself with rich brown walls is the ultimate indulgence. Finish it off with pops of color or vanilla white.

Little girl rooms tend to be very pink. But you know what? Big girls like pink, too! Over the years I have chosen a lot of pink hues for the more mature tastes of my decorating clients (see some of them in the gallery of photos with this post). The key to choosing the right pink is to avoid straight up bubble gum and go with wines, persimmons, and raisins. And don't be shy ... wine is not for wall flowers!

Roses are red ...

Roses will forever represent a romantic heart, but don't feel that a dozen or more is necessary to make a visual statement. Instead of going all out with a room full of chintz, select a couple of roses as accents to show you care. Or choose to paint a feature wall in a classic red rose.

A romantic glow ...

A soft pink on the walls or at the windows will reflect well on whomever enters the room by adding a natural looking rosey-glow to most complexions.
