Caller: Man Seeking Store Appears 'Suspicious'

Lynnfield Police responded to these and other calls for service on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and Thursday, Feb. 16.
On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 2:08 p.m., a Wing Road resident reported a man had been sitting on a nearby sidewalk for some time. It turned out he was waiting for a ride.
At 5:56 p.m., a suspicious van was reported to be parked on Pine Hill Drive. It turned out to belong to painters.
At 6:15 p.m., a suspicious vehicle was reported at Summer Street School. It was gone on arrival.
At 6:34 p.m., a motor vehicle reportedly went over a guardrail on Condon Circle. There was no personal injury reported.
At 7 p.m., a woman reported that her basement alarm went off and that she heard banging downstairs. It turned out that workers were there and she was unaware of that.
On Thursday, Feb. 16 at 2:14 a.m., a motor vehicle reportedly hit a pole on Edward Ave. and left the area.
At 9:30 a.m., a Fernway resident called about a neighbor pumping water from a septic tank into the woods.
At 3:10 p.m., a caller reported from near the Lynnfield Library that an African-American male had just asked her if there was a convenience store in the area. She indicated that there seemed to be something suspicious about him.
At 4:12 p.m., a Melch Road resident reported that his gas grill had caught fire. The fire department responded to the scene.

Good morning Dorothy - We probably see about half a dozen suspicious person/vehicle calls per week and I agree that most of the time the description a caller provides does not seem to mention one's race. In this case however, the person did provide that information in the call - and it seemed to be somewhat central to the call itself - which even without the race detail would still stand out as fairly unusual. The timing was also interesting because it was only about three hours before the annual METCO Building Bridges concert down the street at LMS, so there's also the possibility that the individual could have been one of the musicians on the way to that.
